Training
Athletes of all standards are welcome to join our club
training sessions that take place, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 6.00
p.m. to 7.30 p.m., at Archway School Sports Centre. During the winter months,
Tuesday evening training consists of either an indoor gym session or a four-mile
varied speed road run.
Throwers, sprinters and jumpers tend to opt for the
indoor session, whilst the distance runners usually choose the road run. All
athletes are encouraged to join the coaches on a short road run on Thursday
evening during the winter months, as it is felt that general conditioning and
fitness is of vital importance for all the athletic events.
In the summer, the club has use of the Archway School
playing fields and the new field at Standish.
Dave Peart, our resident throwing events coach, will cater for athletes of all
standards and, over the years, the club has produced many top class throwers
across all the age groups.
Steve Carr coaches the jumps and sprints and, with the help
of several assistant coaches, he is able to cater for large groups of youngsters
of varying abilities and experience. |
